We pray because we want God’s will to guide our lives. David inquired of the Lord before he acted or spoke.
His devotion to prayer and scripture allowed God’s will to guide his life. The primary goal of the Evangelistic Expansion focus of the Powell Priorities is for the church called Zion to become a people:

 

● Whose primary focus is developing deeper relationships with God

 

● Who pray throughout the day and read God’s Word

● Who believe and practice perpetual prayer, the most powerful weapon in the arsenal of the believer, using our faith to unlock the door

What Is Prayer?

● A conversation between you and God, prayed in the name of Jesus

● A simple sentence (eg. Lord, I need you)

● A brief time of communion (eg. praying the Lord’s Prayer)

● A conversation of any length (eg. prayer for loved ones)

How We Pray

● Anytime or all the time. The Lord is always waiting to commune with us, to hear from us and to talk with us

 

● Informally or formally. It only matters to God THAT we pray

● Anywhere, in private devotion or publicly. Silently or aloud

● As often as you desire. Just five minutes a day equates to 30 hours of prayer annually

● Prayer at its best employs four statements: thank you, I’m sorry, teach me, go with me.
